If you are looking for things to do in Disney World for kids, you need look no further than the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. This fun and fantastical boutique has been delighting children since 2009 and the appeal remains as the looks, gowns, and offerings continue to change every season.

Begin planning for your Disney vacation by looking at what the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has in store for you and your most treasured travel companions.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Choices

Step inside the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, and you will feel as though you have been transported to another world. Whether you are a Cinderella fan, and you feel an enchanted tingle because you can just picture the fairy godmother waving her wand and making all of Cinderella’s dreams come true or you are just a believer in all things magical, this playful palace will make you feel right at home.

Stepping into a charming world can be quite an extraordinary experience, but to make sure you are not overcome by all that you see, here is a guide to help you better understand the process.

Gown Categories and Prices

Upon entering the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique you and your children will be given a “look book” to browse while you wait for your appointment time and your Fairy Godmother in Training to appear by your side. Take your time and peruse the “look book” at your leisure.

On my first visit, I flipped through the book three times because I wanted to understand what I was purchasing and how each package differed from the next.

A few quick basic pieces of knowledge that may help you better be able to decipher what you are seeing:

Of the three tiers, each carries a variety of styles. The Castle Collection is the largest and it provides costumes for the following characters:

Ariel
Aurora
Belle
Cinderella
Elena
Jasmine
Merida
Rapunzel
Snow White
Tiana
Tinker Bell
Anna
Elsa

The Deluxe Castle Collection includes gowns for:

Belle
Cinderella
Ariel
Elena

The Signature Collection gowns are only available for the following characters:

Cinderella
Rapunzel
Aurora
Belle

Reservations at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique are only available for ages 3-12. Therefore, the dress sizes begin at 3-4 and go all the way up to size 13. I thought this was a very generous size range because if you attempt to purchase costumes through the Disney Store or online, they only accommodate up to size 10. Generally, the sizes match with age groups. So, if you have a child who is turning six years old, she will most likely be able to wear either a 5,6, or size 7 gown.

It is important that you check out the size chart before going to the Boutique and picking out a costume for your child. If the gown is too small, she won’t be able to comfortably wear it throughout the day. If the gown is too large, she may feel irritated by the extra fabric and want to shrug it off without wearing it for very long.

In my experience, I have found that Disney sizes are very close to being as advertised in the size chart, but sometimes the t-shirts are a little smaller in length than I would like for my kids who have long torsos. This is usually not a problem because I like to buy one size larger when purchasing a garment I want the kids to be able to use for a while.

Be sure to evaluate the list of gowns with help from your child. You will want to know which character they want to dress like for the day before making a decision about which item to purchase. Since there are so many more gowns available in the castle collection, it is likely that most girls will want to shop from that category, but it is always a good idea to know, instead of making that guess.

Prices for these gowns vary widely. The package prices, regardless of the costume your little girl selects will all include the beauty essentials such as a hairstyle, the application of makeup and a glittery face gem, and nail polish. When purchasing a castle package, your princess can expect to receive the gown of her choice, a necklace, a crown or headpiece, and usually a wand.

This bundle will cost approximately $200. If your little one wants to upgrade slightly to the deluxe castle package, all the goodies are the same, but the gown and the accessories are superior in quality. I found, while looking at the accessories especially that the deluxe castle package gave the little girls a nicer necklace and other jewelry pieces they might enjoy. For this slight upgrade, you can expect to pay $230.

The last gown style group is the signature collection and the price jumps quite drastically in this category. For the signature collection, the price is approximately $450. The gown in this collection is of a much better quality. The materials used to make it are finer and more durable.

When purchasing the signature gown, you will receive a garment bag and hanger to help protect this treasured piece of property. The little princess will also get her very own tiara when you opt for this signature dress.

The Knight Package Costumes and Prices

If you are bringing a young man to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, there are two costumes choices available for him. He may select a t-shirt which has a lightweight cape attached to the back, or he can decide to wear a full knight’s costume.

This piece includes the knight’s tunic and a full-length cape. The size ranges for the knights are the same as the gowns from size 3-4 all the way up to size 13. The cost for the Knight’s tshirt is approximately $35 while the full knight costume and makeover will cost about $80.

Specialty Costumes and Prices

The specialty costumes available at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique tend to be on a rotating schedule. If you and your travel party happen to visit during the months of September and October, you will be able to purchase a costume from the Halloween Collection. If you find yourself in the area during the months of November and December, you may want to look at the Christmas Holiday clothing.

For other times throughout the year, a Minnie Mouse-inspired costume can be found. With the specialty collection, you will pay approximately $150. This price will fetch your child a t-shirt, tutu, and a headband. It will also include the full-scale beauty treatment package.

If you have a daughter who fell in the love with the Frozen characters, the specialty packages may be the most appealing to you and your party. There are currently two Frozen-themed packages. One aligns with the first movie while the second features costumes designed to replicate those worn by the main characters in the second film, which will be released in November 2019.

For the Frozen packages, your child will get to decide if she wants to be Anna or Elsa. They will receive the royal beauty treatment and a costume which matches the character they selected. (If girls pick to look like Anna, their hairstyle will have two braids. If they want to be Elsa for the day, they will get a single braid fit for a Queen.)

The costumes available for these packages will be reminiscent of those worn in the film, so if your child wants the first Frozen package, they will receive a gown. If they pick the second one, they will get a set of travel clothes. The Frozen package prices vary. The first one costs approximately $100 while the second is $180.

Accessories and Prices

At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, you may feel like purchasing some choice accessories for your little princess. This is as good a time as any to buy these specialty items because they will be sure to match the gown. The most popular accessory to purchase is a pair of shoes. A pair of ballet flats that will match your child’s costume will cost approximately $30. Shoes are available for little feet beginning at size 7-8 and ranging up to youth sizes 2 and 3.

This means that the smallest children, 3 and 4-year olds, might not be able to purchase the shoes directly from the Boutique. For those who are opting for the Frozen packages, you may want to investigate the boots that are sold in the Boutique. They will nicely compliment the clothing and they are available for purchase at a cost of approximately $40.

Other popular accessories include Tinker Bell’s wings. Should your little princess long to dress up like her favorite fairy for the day, it should be noted that the cost of the wings are not included in the price of the original package. A pair of Tinker Bell’s wings will cost around $25. Some young ladies also want to add a special necklace to their package. These cost about $20, depending upon the item selected.

Top Five Looks

While it might be tempting to go back to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique once every year, that might not work into your budget. It also might not be something your child wants to do each and every year. So, while you are planning to take advantage of this fun experience, you will have to make some decisions.

In the list below, you will find my top choices.

Cinderella’s Signature Look

If I could only visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique once in my life, this is the package I would purchase. The package itself includes everything the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has to offer, so you know your child will be receiving the royal treatment. Once they have indulged in the full makeover, the little princess will be wrapped in the most charming gown imaginable.

When I glimpsed it, I wanted to see if I could find one in my size. (I know I’m far too grown for such play things, but this gown is truly lovely.) There are layers of satin and tulle which give this gown a very full skirt. The paper-thin layers of loveliness showcase glitter and jewels galore. I cannot imagine a young girl putting on this dress and feeling anything other than royal.

If I were going to spend the money on this signature look, I would also opt in for the shoes to match. The coordination would make the look complete and then my child could feel ready to go out and conquer the world. While some might argue that $500 (including the accessories) is a great deal of money to pay for an hour of fun, I would counter that this gown could be worn on multiple occasions, and each time, my little one would feel like a princess.

Tiana’s Castle Gown

Princess Tiana’s dress is only available in the castle collection, but even without the frothy extra layers, it is fit for royalty. The gown is designed to be similar to the one she wore when she transformed back into her human self near the end of the film, The Princess and the Frog. That means the colors of this gown are a glowing green with pale white accents.

They sparkle and shine as if they were kissed by the morning’s dew. Inspired by lily pads, this gown has floral accents and will glitter in an eye-catching way. Of all the gowns, this one drew my attention because it was elegant in a non-traditional fashion.

Snow White’s Castle Gown

To be perfectly frank: There is something about primary colors. Any artist knows the appeal of these colors, and when you view this gown in the “look book”, the red, yellow, and blue number will be sure to catch your eye as well.

I loved the luminous yellow layers of the skirt, and I thought the royal blue on top was quite aesthetically pleasing. Unlike some of the other gowns, this one comes with a headpiece, rather than a crown. As I looked at this one, I thought it might work best for younger children.

Seasonal Costume Package

This option popped out to me for two reasons. The first is that it is extremely versatile. The tutu, headband, and T-shirt will work for almost any age group. A young child could slip into this costume and comfortably wear it all day.

An older young lady would also feel fine in this costume because it allows for freedom of movement, so she can hop on and off the roller coasters, but it also will allow her to sweat without ruining a gown when the weather at Disney World is overwhelming and hot.

The second reason I fell in love with this package was because it seemed like something practical. With a price tag of $150, this costume won’t break the bank, and so your child could reasonably go to the Boutique and get this look every time you go to the Disney World Theme Parks.

Getting this package wouldn’t cheapen the experience either because it is always rotating. One year the little girl could get the Halloween-themed costume and the next year she could dress as Minnie Mouse. I love being able to purchase an affordable package that would allow my little one to have options each time we returned to the Boutique.

Frozen Package

While the new Frozen II Package is very cool, and it looks comfortable because the costumes are made in a “travel clothes” style, I have to say that the original Frozen looks are more iconic and flattering. The gowns designed for Anna and Elsa are beautiful. The hairstyles can be worn easily and will most likely last until your little princess needs to wash her hair.

With either look, Anna’s with two braids or Elsa’s with one, your little princess could even sleep in her hairstyle with ease. The price for the Frozen package is also quite nice. At approximately the $100 mark, this package is one of the cheapest, but it includes lovely extras, like an Olaf plush toy.

This part of the package is appealing to me because it is something a little girl can play with when she goes home, and the stuffed toy is not as likely to be lost or broken in the way a necklace or crown might.

Honorable Mention

My top five looks are certain to delight you and your special princess, but I would be remiss if I didn’t write a little about one of my favorites that I did not include above. The Carriage Package which costs approximately $100 is probably the package that will provide you and your princess with the best value for the money.

The Carriage Package includes the choice of a hairstyle, nail polish, makeup and face gem application, as well as a sash, cinch bag, and t-shirt. I love this package because it doesn’t force the gown or a costume onto the little girl. There are certain times of the year when wearing a gown around the Walt Disney World Theme Parks can be rather difficult. For instance, during the hot, hot, hot summer months of June- September, those gowns can be frightful.

The material is not breathable, and the lace trim can itch once a little one starts to sweat. Furthermore, the gowns are not designed to have practical sleeves and necklines. This can make applying sunscreen a nightmare.

No one wants their child to end up with patches of red and sunburned skin when the day ends, but sometimes wearing a gown can produce that result. When the weather takes a break from scorching the area, the rain may descend. This will help everyone in that it will cool off the atmosphere a bit, but that moisture could wreak havoc on the costume.

The once fluffy layers could become saturated with water, and that could leave your child shivering and miserable. During the months of February and March, the night air can be a bit chilly and the gowns do not offer any protection against the wind. Small jackets or sweaters can fit nicely over these costumes, but when you pay so much money for the clothing, it seems a shame to cover it.

That brings me back to the Carriage Package. Instead of spending your dough on a gown and then finding that the weather causes some issues with actually wearing it, the Carriage Package gives your little princess a soft pink tshirt to wear. This allows her to commemorate the experience and still feel comfortable in her clothing. An added perk is that the tshirt can be easily tucked into a day bag and worn later, if you have decided to bring a costume from home.

Remember: the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is extremely accommodating. They allow parents and children to bring in all sorts of costumes, accessories, and hair pieces that the stylists will add into the transformation process. So, if your little girl has a favorite gown from home she wants to wear, purchasing the Carriage Package will allow for that and will give her a nice souvenir tshirt she can take home for later.

For the Boys

When evaluating the Knight packages, there are really only three options: Getting the hair style, buying the style and the tshirt, or going for the full transformation into knighthood. If you have a child who insists he must be able to participate in this experience, then I would recommend going for the Deluxe Knight package.

The cost at around $80 is reasonable considering the costume that he will receive. The full knight getup is not clunky, and it is made from a very soft fabric. If you have a young man in your party who only kind of wants to go to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, I wouldn’t push the experience on him. While the Knight Packages are cool, they are not nearly as remarkable as the ones available for the princesses. There are plenty of other things a young man can do for an hour that will be more memorable.

Capture the Memories

Once you get to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and you and your child have made your package selections, allow yourself to sit back and enjoy the experience. Some parents will opt to video record or photograph the entire transformation. You can certainly do that. Even if you have two children undergoing the salon treatments at the same time, the Fairy Godmothers in Training are willing to seat your children next to each other, so you don’t miss a minute of action.
