Discover the Best Women’s Walking Shoes for Disney World!

If you’re headed to Disney World soon, the number one thing you most need to prepare for is all of the walking you will do.  And there’s no better way to prepare than having some knowledge of the best women’s walking shoes for Disney World. So in this article, we’re going to countdown our favorite shoe brands and models that we think will keep your feet safe and comfortable throughout your trip.

Best Women’s Walking Shoes for Disney World

Let’s begin with shoes made by Addias.

Adidas Brand

Long-established as a source of quality sportswear, the Adidas brand can be trusted to craft supportive walking and running shoes that will maximize the time you spend enjoying all that Walt Disney World has to offer. The following models exhibit a range of price points and features to meet your economic and activity needs.

Cloudfoam Pure 2.0 Shoes

The Cloudfoam Pure 2.0 model is the most economical offering from the brand with the three stripes. The soft fabric topline, memory foam sockliner, and Cloudfoam sole join forces to fully cushion and defend your feet from impact with unforgiving pavement. I love these shoes for their understated, streamlined appearance.  They imbue any outfit with an active aesthetic, which of course is great for how active you’ll be Disney World!

NMD R1 Shoes

The Adidas NMD R1 shoes climb several levels beyond the Cloudfoam model in features and pricing. The BOOST cushioning technology in the sole reflects energy, amplifying each step you take.

The retro plugs on the upper and midsole offer opportunities for creativity and customization: Pick from a seemingly endless cache of options to match your Disneybound outfit or add a pop of color to your theme park look!

Ultraboost 5.0 DNA Shoes

With their $190 price tag, the Ultraboost 5.0 DNA shoes boast the aesthetic benefits of the Cloudfoam Pure 2.0 and NMD_R1 models, plus the performance technology of Adidas best running gear.

The BOOST midsole adds bounce to your step, while a durable PRIMEKNIT upper fabric provides long-lasting, foot-hugging support. If you are searching for a dual running and walking shoe appropriate for the gym and Main Street, U.S.A., this may be your best option!

AllBirds Brand

My all-time favorite sneakers–appropriate for days spent bouncing around my classroom to help students with their writing and dashing through Disney theme parks to hit as many high-demand rides as possible–come from a relatively young, New Zealand-American company that has made sustainability central to its business model: AllBirds.

Through the use of regenerative agriculture, renewable materials, and responsible energy, AllBirds aspires to reduce its carbon footprint to zero. When you visit the Conservation Station in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, wearing your new Tree Runners or Tree Pipers, you can rest assured that you have contributed to this climate-positive mission.

Tree Runners

AllBirds Tree Runners are, without a doubt, the most comfortable shoes I own. I originally purchased them for my work as a public school teacher, a job that–like a trip to a Walt Disney World theme park–requires me to stay on my feet for six to seven hours a day. In my “mist” Tree Runners, I feel as if I am walking on a cloud the entire time!

Since learning that, due to their lightweight and flexible construction, these shoes travel easily, I have brought them on active trips to Arizona, where my Tree Runners carried me into Antelope Canyon, and Montreal, where I wore them to La Ronde amusement park. The shoes cleaned easily after both occasions: Per the packaged instructions, AllBirds can be tossed into the washing machine, preferably inside a delicates bag for protection.

Tree Pipers

A newer style than the Tree Runners, AllBirds Tree Pipers look more like classic low tops than running shoes. My partner recently gifted me a pair for my birthday and, while  I have not had the opportunity to wear them in adventurous settings, they have cushioned and protected my feet just as well as my Tree Runners.

Potential buyers should be warned that the loop on the back of the shoe is made of a less forgiving material to which your achilles’ tendons may not initially be accustomed. Some redness and irritation formed on my skin during my first outing in the shoes; however, the rash quickly disappeared without blistering.

If you plan to purchase new Tree Pipers prior to your Disney vacation, allow time for breaking them in before traveling, and pack adhesive bandages or blister patches to remedy unexpected sore spots.

ASICS Brand

I have been running and walking in ASICS shoes for years, and–with the exception of some minor shin splints treated with arch-supporting insoles–they have kept me pain-free! Compared with other well-known brands, ASICS offers quality women’s active footwear at a reasonable price. In your preparations for your Disney vacation, check out the following sneaker models.

Gel-Nimbus 23 Running Shoe

The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 23 Running Shoe carries a $150 price tag, but can often be found on sale for closer to $110. Rearfoot GEL Technology–a layer of gel built into the sole–absorbs shock as the heel hits the ground.

A supple, FLYTEFOAM midsole then propels the shoe wearer back into stride. For a pixie-dusted look that also belongs in the futuristic streets of Tomorrowland and EPCOT, consider purchasing the “white/pure silver” color combination.

Gel-Quantum 180 5 Sportstyle Shoe

At $120 full-price, the Gel-Quantum 180 5 Sportstyle Shoe is less expensive than the aforementioned Gel-Nimbus model. Several color combinations, including a black and purple-accented shoe perfect for a Maleficent or Ursula Disneybounding look, are available on sale for less than $100.

The heel and midsole gel cushioning combine to shield neutrally-arched feet from impact with the pavement. If you have atypically high or low arches, you may want to purchase inserts (such as Dr. Scholl’s) to place inside these shoes for added foot and ankle support.

Crocs Brand

Crocs are back! These amphibious relics of the early 2000s, once buried in a closet with my middle school report cards, have experienced a revival. While the Classic Clog may not be the sturdiest choice of walking shoe, it’s modern counterparts offer both breathing room and support for your feet.

Citilane Roka Court Sneaker

The CitiLane Roka Court Sneaker can be a really good option for plus size women, mainly due to the flexibility and breathability of the sneaker’s material and exceptional heel cushioning. These versatile shoes pair well with a variety of outfits: athletic shorts and tanks, leggings, or dresses and skirts.

Additionally, like the Crocs Classic Clog, they can be worn with or without socks! The CitiLane Roka Court Sneaker packs easily due to its low top style and lightweight construction. If you happen to drop a Mickey bar, cleaning is a breeze with a wet cloth or paper towel!

LiteRide 360 Pacer Sneakers

For additional footbed cushioning and the ankle support that accompanies a running shoe style, consider the Crocs LiteRide 360 Pacer Sneakers. Although they are not as stylistically adaptable as the Roka Court Sneaker, the LiteRide 360 boasts a unique capacity for personalization: as you wear the shoe, the sole becomes pressure-and heat-molded to your foot’s shape.

Like the CitiLane Roka Court model, these Crocs can be packed and cleaned with ease. Additionally, they can be worn comfortably without socks, if that is your preference.

KURU ATOM Women’s Athletic Sneaker

If you suffer from fallen arches, and you’re looking for the best Disney World shoes for Plantar Fasciitis, heel pain, or bone spurs, the ATOM sneaker will provide you with the necessary support to spend a day on your feet in Disney theme parks. The double-layer upper structure of the shoe locks your heel in place, preventing blister- and injury-inducing friction and slippage.

Meanwhile, the substantial KURUCLOUD midsole enhances posture and pads the sole of your foot. Impressively, the ATOM sneaker accomplishes all of this without looking like orthopedic footwear. It is well worth the $160 price tag!

NOBULL Women’s Knit Runners

Have you ever walked out of your home in socks or slippers? Were you disappointed to realize that you needed to swap comfort for substantial shoes? If so, the NOBULL Women’s Knit Runners were designed for you. They are lightweight, with a stretchy, knit upper and enduring Phylon midsole.

This versatile sneaker model is appropriate for running, weight training, and walking around Walt Disney World! The Knit Runners are available in a variety of colors, including a sky blue reminiscent of Cinderella’s infamous glass slippers.

Ryka Perform Walking Shoe

As an alternative to classic sneakers and running shoes, consider footwear explicitly designed for fitness walking. Runner’s World writers Lindsey Emery and John Tyler Allen identify the Ryka Perform Walking Shoe as the best female-specific sneaker. The Perform insole was designed with female anatomy in mind, featuring a wide toe box and comparatively narrow heel.

The RE-ZORB cushioning and Skeletal Guidance System that are also built into this insole provide additional, impact-absorbing reinforcement under the arch of the foot. If you–like me–have flat, “duck feet,” this structure will improve the stability and security of the fit, keeping you comfortable and pain-free while traversing the theme parks on your Disney vacation.

Walking Sandals

Let’s begin with Birkenstock sandals.

Birkenstock Arizona EVA Sandals

If you are comfortable in a sandal without a backstrap, the Birkenstock Arizona EVA style may be a perfect fit for you! Made from ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), the footbed of this shoe absorbs shock and cushions your steps.

Additionally, the EVA material renders the shoe incredibly lightweight and waterproof. The sandal is available in neutral tones, metallics, or eye-catching shades of blue, pink, red, and purple that will add a pop of color to your theme park look.

Teva Original Universal Sandal

To access long-lasting comfort and flexible style at a comparatively economical price, consider the Teva Original Universal Sandal. Velcro straps across the heel and ankle allow for efficiency and adjustable sizing. Furthermore, an EVA midsole with heel and arch molding hugs the wearer’s foot.

You will have no trouble matching the Original Universal Sandal with your clothing, as there are many color and pattern combinations available. In a mad dash out the door to attend Extra Magic Hours or a character breakfast, you will be relieved to find a pair of Tevas nearby!

Chaco Z/Sandals

As someone who feels weighed down by traditional hiking boots, I was thrilled to discover the Chaco Z/Sandals. The impressive tread on the bottom renders them appropriate for trails and pavement, alike: The same Chaco sandals that carried me up

The Pinnacles in New Zealand’s Coromandel Peninsula have traversed Imagineer-designed “red rock” in the queue for Thunder Mountain Railroad in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. With their $100 price sticker, Chaco Z/Sandals are significantly more expensive than the Teva Original Universal Sandal discussed above. However, the additional arch support and capacity for customization in sizing (The straps on Chaco sandals can be manipulated to accommodate your foot’s shape!) have been worth the extra dollars for my flat arches and wide toe boxes.

Conclusion

If you already own a pair of sturdy and supportive walking shoes that can be worn for many miles and hours, you are one significant step closer to enjoying your Disney vacation! If it is time to retire your old sneakers, I hope that this list of the best women’s walking shoes for Disney World will jumpstart your hunt for comfortable footwear.

Limping around on sore feet will suck the magic out of even the best day in Walt Disney World theme parks. Quality walking shoes can be expensive, but they are well worth the investment in your health and happiness. So, power up your favorite Internet browser and begin your search in earnest–Your feet will thank you!
