How to Dress in Disney World in November

If you’re looking to head to Walt Disney World in the later months of the year, you might want to heavily consider taking your trip in November. In my opinion, it is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World out of the entire year. Some might not think this is true, seeing as the weather isn’t as warm as they would like it to be in central Florida during their vacation.

However, let’s explore the possibility of taking a trip in November! What is the weather like? What are the crowd levels during this time of year? What could you wear, and how would you possibly dress for Walt Disney World in November? Let’s find out!

Weather

Central Florida’s weather pattern in November can actually be rather perfect. Unlike the late spring and summer, the rainfall is exceptionally low this month. Those Florida, pop up rain showers in the afternoon are not as prominent as they are in the extremely warm months. Now, they can still happen, but the chances are very low compared to other times of the year. Nevertheless, it never hurts to bring an umbrella or rain poncho just in case.

According to Undercover Tourist, the temperatures can be extremely nice. The average highs are in the upper 70’s, which makes a day walking around the parks extremely nice and comfortable for guests. The average lows are in the upper 50’s. What’s nice about these temperatures is that it makes for a very nice and pleasant day having adventures in all the parks.

Those who hate the heat, will love that it feels cooler, and those who hate the cold appreciate it being warmer. As long as one dresses appropriately, you can enjoy your day without sweating like crazy or shivering in the chilly air. Even though it’s close to winter, the temperatures can still be nice enough to still have a day at the pool or go to a water park! It’s a time of year that can be a balance in the weather, making everybody happy.

Varied Clothing

Now, because the weather can be varied, the clothing that you pack for your trip can be varied as well. Like I said the temperatures can reach high 70s and drop to high 50s, so you’re going to need to make sure you are prepared with a variety of clothing. Layers in your clothing are your best bet because the weather is very mild weather month.

Layers are going to be your best friend, because that way you can add or peel off a layer of clothing as the day goes on. In the morning, for instance, you can start off by having a light jacket, sweater, or cardigan that you can take off and tie around your waist the rest of the day if it gets too warm.

Before your trip, my suggestion would be to check the weather during the time you will be in Walt Disney World. The reason I recommend this is because November is a time of year where the weather can either be very different from day to day in Florida, or it can be about the same during the time you are on vacation.

This is what I have gathered from my personal experience. It can be cool enough to wear jeans and a jacket, or it could be warm enough to wear a sundress. Whenever you are packing, make sure you pack for cooler and hotter weather. On a trip I went on in November a few years ago, I would wear jeans and a sweatshirt with sneakers one day, and another day, I was wearing a tank top and shorts.

I would take a sweatshirt with me the days I would wear more summer clothing, in case of cooler weather and because the air inside of buildings had the potential to become chilly after being inside for awhile. Some options you could take for varied clothing include:

  • Jeans
  • Capris
  • Sweatshirt
  • Cardigan
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • T-shirt
  • Flats
  • Light Jacket
  • Shorts
  • Tank Tops

Like I mentioned earlier, most of these things can be incorporated as layered clothing that you can take off or put on as the day goes on. You’re going to want to pick certain articles of clothing that you would not mind walking around in for several hours of the day.

The last thing you want is to take a break from your park time to go back to your hotel and change just because you don’t feel comfortable in the clothes you’re wearing. Make sure you are prepared for a wide range of weather options before you head out. It’s one of the best ways to plan your Walt Disney World vacation.

Accessories

Sometimes in the summer months, fun Disney accessories can be a little uncomfortable to wear. For instance, Mickey Mouse Ears are always something everyone wants to wear, but the headband might be a little too tight, or they might become too hot. Perhaps, you’d rather wear something to protect your face from the sun and heat.

The nice thing about wearing Mickey Mouse Ears in November, is that the sun is not as intense, and it is not as hot. You should still be mindful of the sun, but it would not be as bad as the hotter months. Wearing fun Disney accessories might be more fun and more comfortable to wear this time of year.

Disney themed clothing can come in just about anything you wish nowadays. More options can be worn in November due to cooler temperatures. It’s time to break out those Aladdin leggings and Jack Skellington hoodie! This is the time of year to wear them.

It’s going to seem like you can wear anything you want without feeling stuffy and uncomfortable, so bring those scarves, hats, headbands, jackets, etc. that you always wanted to wear walking down Main Street U.S.A.

A bonus too is that November is the start of the holiday season down in Walt Disney World! How do you show your Disney fandom combined with holiday apparel? This is the time of year to wear those things! The park provides numerous holiday wear that is perfect for park hopping on your vacation and attending those holiday events that pop up around this time of year.

Holiday themed mouse ears even make it onto the shelves, and they are very popular amongst guests. Everyone always wears their holiday gear around the parks, and now is the time to do so!

November allows more possibilities to be presented to you as far as different accessories and clothing apparel is concerned.

Dinner Reservations

What’s nice about this time of year is that you have more options from your wardrobe that you could wear to certain dinner reservations. What I mean by this is that some places for dining options have a dress code. For instance, the one that most think of immediately is Victoria and Alberts, the fanciest dining option in Walt Disney World. It is located in the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and requires formal wear. According to the Disney Food Blog, the dining options that require a dress code include:

  • California Grill, Contemporary Resort
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse, Yacht Club Resort
  • Citricos, Grand Floridian Resort
  • Todd English’s Bluezoon, Dolphin Resort
  • Flying Fish, Boardwalk Resort
  • Il Molino New York Trattoria, Swan Resort
  • Jiko, Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort
  • Narcoossee’s, Grand Floridian Resort
  • Victoria and Albert’s, Grand Floridian Resort

This can be subject to change over time, but these signature dining options require a business casual dress code. No jeans, sandals, tennis shoes, capri pants, flip-flops, or shorts are allowed.

Here are some options of clothing pieces you could wear:

  • Polo
  • Slacks
  • Dinner jacket
  • Dress shoes
  • Dress shirt
  • Tie
  • Skirt
  • Blouse
  • Dress/ sundress
  • Heels
  • Nice sandals
  • Cardigan

The air conditioning is famous in these buildings, so you might want to bring a cardigan, light sweater, or jacket to wear over your clothing if you are prone to chills.

You will not have to worry about sweating in the heat on your way to your dining reservations in November, because the temperatures will be cool enough that you can wear those long pants or that long skirt if you wish. Long sleeves are alright to wear, and you might be more comfortable in heels if you’re feel aren’t swollen from the heat.

It is a time where you don’t have to panic about being too hot while filling your stomach with delicious food. It saves you from being sweaty and full at the same time.

Since November is the beginning of the holiday season for Walt Disney World, it might be fun to do something that is slightly different. Decorations are everyone on Disney property during the holidays, so any dining you might make reservations for will also be decked out for the time of year, making it extra special.

If you’re thinking about not making dining reservations at certain places because you think it would be too hard to bring certain clothes, think again! November might be one of the best times to make reservations, because you will not need to worry so much about the weather. Is there a certain restaurant you’re dying to eat at? Now is the time to book it!

Kiddos

Your young ones, like you, will need to be prepared before going on a trip in November. The thing that is different after kids is that they are more likely to be more sensitive to the weather elements then you are. They will become warmer and cooler more easily than adults, so more attention should be paid towards what young children and kids should be wearing later in the year, even in central Florida.

Though I haven’t had experience with small children in the theme parks personally, I have known other people who have. My suggestion would be to be prepared for anything. Like I mentioned earlier, be prepared for all types of weather. Make sure your child is comfortable, wearing loose clothing so the heat does not stick to their skin horribly.

Early mornings can feel much cooler, requiring a layer over your child to keep them warm. Now, later, your child might complain that they are too hot. Usually, they do not want to carry their jacket or sweater with them later, meaning that there is one more thing that you will have to carry along with everything else you have that day.

However, if your child is younger, a small article of clothing won’t add much to your load that day. Perhaps if the article of clothing is Disney themed as well, it will be easier to convince them to carry it around themselves. If your child is older, they absolutely can carry it around themselves.

Kids can also become cooler more quickly than adults because of their smaller stature. Make sure they are always covered efficiently when the temperatures drop to those high 50’s. The parks do sell light jackets for children, along with sweaters and regular jackets. While these options can be on the pricey side, their warmth would be worth it. If it has a favorite character or movie on it as well, it might be easier to convince your child to wear it.

Multiple people might not think of November as being one of the best times of year to visit Walt Disney World. However, that means they have not considered the full range of positives and advantages they have when it comes to the weather at this time of year. The crowd levels are typically very low this month, except for the week of Thanksgiving.

It’s the start of the holiday seasonal activities. The weather becomes more tolerant and something that everyone can agree on as nice weather for their vacation and adventures at Disney World. If you’re considering taking a vacation in the “off months” of the year, you should really consider going in November.)
